Woven from a combination of strong PVC coated fibers and soft Sunbrella acrylic yarns, Sunbrella Sling fabrics provide the structure and support necessary for sling seating while offering a smoother, more comfortable feel than traditional vinyl mesh. Resistant to mildew, stains, and fading, Augustine Alloy holds its color and form even after years of exposure to sunlight and weather.
Note: This fabric is designed for sling chair applications only and is not intended for traditional reupholstery projects. We do not reupholster sling chairs.
For customers re slinging their own chairs, please keep the following in mind. The fabric width is 54 inches. If your chair panel length is under 27 inches, you can typically cut the width in half and use one yard for two chairs. Since one yard equals 36 inches in length, chairs with panels longer than 36 inches will require more than one yard per chair.
MEASURING AND YARDAGE GUIDANCE
MEASURING AND YARDAGE GUIDANCE
Measuring and Yardage Guidance
Most sling chair projects typically require between one to two yards of fabric per chair, depending on the chair’s size and design. Because sling chairs can vary, we always recommend measuring your own furniture before ordering.
A standard sling chair is usually around 24 inches wide. To estimate your total yardage, measure the width and length of your chair’s fabric panel, then multiply by the number of chairs you plan to recover. Sling fabrics are designed with minimal seam allowance, so you won’t need much extra, but it’s always best to leave a small margin for adjustments.
If your chair panel length is under 27 inches, you can generally cut the 54 inch fabric width in half and use one yard for two chairs. Since one yard equals 36 inches, chairs with panels longer than 36 inches will require more than one yard per chair.
For the binding, measure all four sides of your existing sling panel and add about two extra inches to allow for overlap. Multiply that number by the total number of chairs being recovered, and consider adding an additional half inch to one inch as a buffer to ensure you have enough.
Disclaimer: This information is provided as a general guideline based on standard sling chair dimensions. Actual yardage requirements may vary depending on the style and measurements of your furniture. We recommend verifying your own measurements before purchasing, as OutdoorFabrics.com is not responsible for miscalculations or measurement discrepancies.
